Yeah I hear that excuse all the time, but it's not entirely true. Makeup is known to clog pores, cause breakouts and leave dark shadows/bags under your eyes. Only the cheap and nasty stuff will do this, or it will only happen if you don't use the makeup properly. Only bad makeup is bad for your skin.

Firstly, use either non-comedogenic or mineral makeup. These foundations won't clog your pores, unless you wear them for long periods (I mean over 24 hours by 'long'). Also make sure you completely remove the makeup before you go to bed, use a good makeup remover then wash your face really well.

Eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadows absolutely do NOT make your skin wrinkle. But yes, they do leave dark shadows if you don't remove it completely. Just use a makeup remover before bed (preferably an eye-makeup remover, it's gentle on your skin and won't sting your eyes).

If you use good makeup, and use it properly it can actually benefit your skin. It provides protection during the day from pimple-causing germs and bacteria, and covers all the nasty stuff.

Oh and give your mum a whack for telling lies! =P
Some makeup is bad for your skin and your body. Mineral makeup is actually better since it gives you sunscreen, helps fight acne, and tends to improve the condition of your skin. That is true mineral makeup.

Regardless of any makeup that you wear it is important to remove it every evening before retiring. Oil or vaseline is a good remover for eye makeup and foundation.

Then washing with a good cleanser that's good for your skin type (oily, dry, normal).

Then tone with a Witch Hazel or some other toner to ensure that all traces of makeup are gone and more importantly to ensure that the proper PH level of your skin is restored.

Then moisturize with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type.

Two or Three times a week a gentle facial scrubbing with a facial scrub and a mask treatment designed for your skin type will keep your skin in good tip top shape.
Hi,

Some brands are actually bad for your eyes as the chemicals can be quite harsh, the best thing to do would to check out which brands are natural and actually good for your skin, I wear one of these eye liners and it only leaves a dark shadow if I don't take it off correctly, or if I leave it on so I have a dark shadow. So I can apply a shadowy look. But yes it is true that some brands are bad for your skin.

But there are several brands that are. You'll have to check them out.

Hope this helps.
